MARY
MARTHA CIRCLE by Dorothy Smith, “Acting Secretary” |
|
Marie Borror and Jean Johnson were the hostesses for the March 12th
meeting. There were eight members present and Pastor joined us for
lunch. We are happy to have Mary Kimmel as a new member. We all
enjoyed a delicious luncheon.
The tables were beautifully decorated with an Easter décor.
The centerpieces were pretty decorated straw Easter baskets containing an
Easter bunny an a small box of Whitman Chocolates. Little bowls of
Easter eggs were on each table. A drawing was held for the
centerpieces and Ange Stange, Lee Williams, and Dorothy Smith were the
winners.
We had no birthdays this month.
Lee Williams, our Treasurer, read her report. Our Card Lay, Jean
Johnson, sent letters to all our members advising us that at our March
meeting during lunch we would have some soft guitar music. So during
lunch we listened to this music which was recorded by Jean's nephew for his
church.
Dorothy said at the March 1st meeting of the Worship and Music
Committee, it was suggested we place a plain sheet of paper in the
children's packets we give to the children visitors on Sunday. The
reason for this was because some of the little ones just preferred to doodle
on the back of the attendance cards. Jean Gable donated six doodle
pads and Dorothy added two sheets to each packet.
Next we discussed the sandwich lunch we would serve the Health Fair
"workers" on March 17th. We plan for 20 workers and the
menu will consist of egg salad sandwiches on white bread, ham and cheese on
rye, applesauce cups, potato chips, bottled water, juice and home made
cookies. Dorothy said she already had paper plates, napkins, and
plastic spoons for the applesauce. Lee Williams, Marie Borror and
Dorothy will be assisting the workers in the library when they come for
lunch.
Marie Borror announced that on Friday, March 14th, a group of
ladies will be making the crosses we hand out on Palm Sunday at Margery
Frantzen's home. She invited anyone who wished to help to let her
know.
The Program was presented by Jean Johnson who read an article about what
the "Golden Triangle Artists" groups in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, were doing
to help those suffering from the hurricanes.
Hostess for the April meeting will be Joann Wassell in celebration and
loving memory of Elizabeth's birthday.
The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer.
Ladies, you are invited to join us at our next meeting on April 9th
at 10:00 a.m.
