FELLOWSHIP AND EDUCATION
Here we are once again, laying
plans for the New Year - 2008. We
discussed the Christ Party at Judy and Phil’s and laughed about the fun and
fellowship we had. One suggestion
was to have cold foods instead of hot next year, so we don’t have the hassle of
keeping or getting them hot. What
are your thoughts? Please let
someone on our committee know.
January breakfast was at the
“Cracked Egg”. We’d gotten so many
suggestions to go there and we finally made it!
Very Nice!
For February we thought we’d try
lunch at the Outback (trying to thank them for supporting us several times with
generous gift certificates.) Because
February 14th is their “busiest day of the year” we opted for President’s Day -
Monday, February 18th - mark the calendar - more details later.
As a committee we were happy to be
the ones to organize Jimi Craft’s funeral.
We want to thank everyone who responded to our calls for food donations.
It went very well and we know Jimi would have been pleased!
We discussed a fund raiser for
Spring and will be working with Outreach and Membership to qualify for matching
funds. We’ve decided to do something
similar to “Let the Good Times Roll”, but with a few new twists - more on that
later.
Once again, we welcome any ideas of
place to go, things to do or places to eat - slip a note to someone on our
committee (so we don’t forget...ha ha).
Joann Young, Linda Birkemeyer, Evy Hannelius, Donna Shelton, Jerry
Shelton, Simuel McGill, Iris Parraguirre, Del Quill, Ange Stange, Lee Williams
and Pastor Loren.
ASH WEDNESDAY IS ON FEBRUARY 6TH.
OUR
LENTEN SERIES WILL BE “THE TEN COMMANDMENTS”.
SERVICE BEGINS AT 7:00 p.m.
Starting on Wednesday, February 13th we
will enjoy our Lenten Soup at 6:00 p.m. followed by our Lenten Studies on the
Ten Commandments at 7:00 p.m.
March 20th - Maundy
Thursday and March 21st Good Friday services will also
be at 7:00 p.m.
Message from Outreach and Membership Committee: Would you be willing to make one visit every 2-3 months to one of our Home Companions? Please give this some thought. If you would be willing to take on this commitment it would mean so much to these folks, and we bet it would mean even more to you. Please prayerfully consider this. If you are able to do this, there is a sign-up in the Narthex. This way each one will get some much needed company.
“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are
members of my family, you did it to me.”
I received a frantic
call at home Sunday evening, January 28th.
Joann Young forgot to put the cinnamon and
sugar topping on her bread pudding.
She was mortified when she returned home to see it on the kitchen
counter. Don’t know about you, but I
thought it as really Good! You’re
forgiven Joann (if you bring some more).
