 NEVADA’S LIVING WILL LOCKBOX

Documents like living wills and powers of attorney for health care are your opportunity to memorialize you health care preferences.  But if your family and health care    professionals do not have access to your health care documents, they cannot act on them.  The newly established Registry of Advance Directives, known as “The Living Will Lockbox,” ensures that your living wills and   similar documents are easily accessible to your family and health care provides.

The Living Will Lockbox is a secure, password protected, database which stores advance directives in a common web-based location.  Only you, persons you authorize, and authorized health care providers will have access to your documents.  The Nevada Secretary of State, the same agency that manages the State’s  corporate filings and our statewide voter registration database, has years of experience in maintaining this type of secure data.  The Living Will Lockbox assures Nevadans that their wishes regarding health care decisions will be both assessable and safeguarded. 

Use of the Living Will Lockbox is free to all Nevadans, and registering is  simple.  By visiting www.livingwilllockbox.com, you can download the registration forms and send your completed form and documents to be stored with the Nevada Secretary of State.  You will receive a wallet size card with a password for accessing your documents.  Changes to the documents may be made at any time through a simple procedure similar to your initial registration.
